System Requirements
Check the Windows version, disk space, graphics card, internet and hardware your booth computer needs before installing.
Check these requirements before you install Q-Booth or buy a booth computer. The most important choice is the graphics card: Basic and Advanced run on an ordinary processor, while the offline AI in Pro needs an NVIDIA RTX graphics card.
At a glance
| Component | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit |
| User account | An administrator account (needed to install) |
| Processor and memory | Minimum 4 cores and 8 GB RAM. For AI Offline, 8 cores and 16 GB RAM or more is recommended. |
| Free disk space | About 25 GB for the Pro edition, about 5 GB for the other editions — plus room for your photos and videos |
| Graphics card | Not required for Basic and Advanced. Pro: NVIDIA RTX with at least 8 GB VRAM |
| Internet | Required on the first launch; needed later for some features (see below) |
| Camera | Webcam or USB camera, Canon DSLR/mirrorless, or GoPro |
| Printer | Any photo printer with a Windows driver |
Windows version
- Q-Booth runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. The installer does not run on 32-bit Windows.
- You need an administrator account to install. Windows asks for permission when you start the setup file.
- Keep Windows and your graphics driver up to date before an event, not on the event day.
Disk space
The installer asks you to make sure the drive has enough free space. These figures include the shared components that Q-Booth downloads on its first launch:
| Edition | Space for the installation |
|---|---|
| Basic, Advanced | About 5 GB |
| Pro | About 25 GB |
On top of that, plan space for your results. By default, results and camera photos are stored inside the Q-Booth folder, and a busy event with video templates can produce several gigabytes per day. A fast SSD is strongly recommended.
If drive C is small, install Q-Booth on a larger drive, or move the result folders later in Settings › General (see General settings).
Graphics card (GPU)
| Edition | Graphics card |
|---|---|
| Basic | Not required. AI background removal runs on the processor. |
| Advanced | Not required. Face Swap runs on the processor; online AI runs in the cloud. |
| Pro | Required for offline generative AI: an NVIDIA RTX card with at least 8 GB VRAM. The app's GPU mode needs an RTX 30-series or newer card (for example an RTX 4060 8 GB or better). |
- To use the graphics card for AI, Q-Booth needs the GPU Pack, a separate download of about 2.4 GB. When an NVIDIA card is detected, a Download GPU Pack button appears in Settings › Advanced. Download it at home or in the office on a stable connection, never at the venue. See Advanced settings.
- On computers without an NVIDIA card, the GPU option is disabled automatically and AI runs on the processor.
- More VRAM means faster AI processing and fewer memory problems with larger images.
The camera preview also uses the graphics card. If the preview stays black on a computer, switch Live View Render Engine to CPU in Settings › Advanced.
Internet connection
| Task | Internet needed? |
|---|---|
| First launch: license activation and downloading required files | Yes |
| Signing in again after Logout Session, refreshing add-ons | Yes |
| App updates and Update additional content | Yes |
| GPU Pack download | Yes (about 2.4 GB) |
| AI Online Studio (AI images and video through an online service) | Yes, during the event |
| Web QR (cloud or FTP upload) and email sharing | Yes, during the event |
| Local QR — guests download photos over the booth's own Wi-Fi | No |
| AI Offline, Photo, Collage, Motion and printing | No |
Venue networks often block ports or limit outgoing traffic. If your event depends on Web QR, email or AI Online, test them on the venue network before guests arrive. See QR Share settings.
Supported cameras
Q-Booth has two camera slots (Camera 1 and Camera 2). Each can use one of these camera types:
- Webcam / USB camera — including virtual cameras and capture devices. The quickest to set up.
- Canon DSLR or mirrorless — connected by USB, with control of ISO, aperture, shutter speed and white balance. Use a power adapter instead of a battery for all-day events.
- GoPro — paired over Bluetooth (the computer needs Bluetooth 4.0 or newer) and connected through the camera's own Wi-Fi. That Wi-Fi adapter is then dedicated to the GoPro, so use Ethernet or a second Wi-Fi adapter if the booth also needs internet.
Setup steps for each type are in Camera settings.
Printers and other hardware
- Printer — any photo printer with a Windows driver. You can set up several printers, each with its own paper size, margins and alignment. See Printer & audio settings.
- Microphone — optional, for templates that record sound.
- Monitor — any screen in landscape or portrait. A touch screen works well: guests tap the on-screen buttons, and staff can leave the booth with a double tap in a corner.
Recommended setup for a booth computer
- Choose the edition first: if you need offline generative AI (Pro), pick a computer with an NVIDIA RTX card with 8 GB VRAM or more.
- Use a fast SSD with plenty of free space for the installation and a full day of results.
- Plan the network: Ethernet or a reliable Wi-Fi for Web QR, email and AI Online; Local QR when the venue has no internet.
- Test the camera, printer and sharing in Q-Booth before the event day (see First-time setup).
Questions
Can I use Q-Booth on a laptop without an NVIDIA graphics card?
Yes, with the Basic and Advanced editions. They do not require a graphics card. Only the offline generative AI in Pro needs an NVIDIA RTX card.
Does Q-Booth run on macOS?
No. Q-Booth is Windows software and needs Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
Can I run an event with no internet at all?
Yes. After the first launch, photos, collages, videos, printing, AI Offline and Local QR all work without internet. Features that send data online — Web QR, email and AI Online — need a connection.
