This article takes you from the setup file to a booth that is ready to shoot: running the installer, activating your License ID on the first launch, keeping Q-Booth up to date, and moving your license to another computer.

Before you start

  • A Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit computer and an administrator account.
  • Free disk space: about 25 GB for the Pro edition, about 5 GB for the other editions (see System requirements).
  • An internet connection for the first launch.
  • Your License ID. You receive it with your purchase, and you can always find it after signing in to your account at lumaqube.com.

Download the installer

  1. Sign in to your account at lumaqube.com.
  2. On your dashboard, find the Download Q-Booth card and click QBooth Installer. The card also shows the current installer version.
  3. Save the setup file to your computer. The same download link is included in your purchase email.

Run the installer

  1. Double-click the setup file. Windows asks for permission (User Account Control) and shows Lumaqube as the verified publisher. Click Yes.
  2. Select Setup Language. Pick English, Bahasa Indonesia, Español, Deutsch or 简体中文. Q-Booth will open in the same language on its first launch, so you only choose once. You can change it later in Settings › General.
  3. Select Destination Location. Keep the suggested folder or click Browse to choose another. Use a new, empty folder on a drive with enough free space, then click Next.
  4. Do you already have Version 3 on this PC? For a new installation choose No and click Next. (If Q-Booth Version 3 is installed on this computer, see Upgrading from Version 3.)
  5. Select Additional Tasks. Leave Create a desktop shortcut ticked so the booth is one click away.
  6. Ready to Install. Check the destination folder and shortcut, then click Install.
  7. Setup copies the files and then installs the Visual C++ runtime that Q-Booth needs. Wait until it finishes.
  8. On the last page, keep Launch QBooth ticked and click Finish.
Important

Always install into a new, empty folder. Never install over the folder of an older Q-Booth Version 3 — setup refuses a folder that is the same as, or inside, your Version 3 folder.

First launch and license activation

  1. Q-Booth opens with the License Activation window. Type or paste your License ID into License ID and click Activate.
  2. If the license is still active on another computer, you see a hint to deactivate it there first: open Q-Booth on that computer, go to About and click Deactivate License. Then click Activate here again. (No access to the old computer? See Deactivate from the website.)
  3. The Finishing Setup window appears: Downloading required files. Keep the app open and stay online until it finishes. If you must stop, click Resume Later — the download continues the next time you open Q-Booth. If the connection drops, click Retry.
  4. The splash screen loads the camera, the video engine and the AI. This can take from a few seconds up to a minute or two, depending on the computer.
  5. Q-Booth opens on Home. Next time, simply open it from the desktop shortcut.
Tip

With an AI Offline edition, watch the AI Offline Server status at the bottom of the main menu. Wait until it shows Online before processing AI Offline templates. See Interface tour.

Upgrading from Version 3

If Q-Booth Version 3 is already installed on the same computer, you can reuse its large shared components instead of downloading them again:

  1. On the Do you already have Version 3 on this PC? page, choose Yes.
  2. On the next page, select your Version 3 folder. This is the folder to copy from — not the place to install the new version. Anything that cannot be found there is downloaded automatically.
  3. On the first launch, Q-Booth runs a one-time step, Copying components from your previous version. It can take 10–15 minutes; you can cancel and resume later.

The new version always installs into its own new folder. Your Version 3 installation is never changed or removed.

Keeping Q-Booth up to date

Automatic update prompt

  1. When a new version is available, Q-Booth shows Update Available a few seconds after it opens. It never interrupts a running event.
  2. Click View Changelog to see what is new, Later to skip for now, or Update Now to install.
  3. Q-Booth downloads the update, prepares it and restarts by itself. Your settings and events are kept.

The Version History panel on Home also shows when a newer version is available, with its own Update Now button.

Check for updates manually

  1. Click About at the bottom of the main menu.
  2. Click Check for Updates. If you are already up to date, Q-Booth tells you that you are running the latest version. If it cannot reach the update server, check your internet connection and try again.
  3. Click Update additional content to refresh downloadable content such as AI packs.
Important

Update a few days before an event and test the booth afterwards — never update on the event day. If an update reports that no update package is available for your version, download and run the latest installer from your account.

Your license in About

The About window shows your license details:

ItemWhat it shows
VersionThe installed Q-Booth version — useful when you contact support.
Licensed ToThe license holder's name.
TypeYour edition.
License MediaWhere the license lives, for example Cloud or Dongle.
Username / CompanyThe account and company of the license holder.
License ExpiredThe expiry date, if your license has one.
Add-onsAdd-ons active on this license. Click Refresh Add-ons after buying a new one; restart the app if asked.
License IDYour license identifier.

Home shows a similar summary in the My License panel, with the License ID hidden until you click the eye icon.

Warning

Treat your License ID like a password. Do not post it online or show it in photos or videos of your screen.

Logout Session

Logout Session ends the license session on this computer and closes the app, but the license stays on this PC. The next time you open Q-Booth, a Sign In window appears: enter your License ID and click Sign In.

Moving to another computer

A license is active on one computer at a time. To move it:

  1. Optional — take your setup with you: export your settings in Settings › Other with Export Settings…, and back up each event you want to keep from the event's Manage section (see Backup & export).
  2. On the old computer, open About and click Deactivate License.
  3. Type the confirmation number shown in the dialog and click Confirm. The license is removed and the app closes.
  4. On the new computer, install Q-Booth and activate the same License ID.
  5. Import your settings with Import Settings… and restore your events from the event list.
Warning

Always run Deactivate License before you reformat the computer, reinstall Windows or replace main hardware. Otherwise the license may stay held by the old machine.

Deactivate from the website

If the old computer is no longer available, sign in at lumaqube.com with your User ID and password, open the License page and click Deactivate. This is only possible if the app has not been used for 24 hours.

Removing or reinstalling Q-Booth

Q-Booth has no separate uninstaller. To remove it:

  1. Open About and click Deactivate License first.
  2. Copy anything you want to keep. By default, results, camera photos, events and settings are stored inside the Q-Booth folder.
  3. Close Q-Booth and delete its installation folder, then delete the desktop shortcut.
Warning

Deleting the folder permanently deletes the photos, videos and events stored in it. Back them up first.

To reinstall on the same computer (for example after a damaged installation), deactivate, back up, then run the latest installer into a new, empty folder and activate again.

Common problems

Activation says the license is already activated on another device

Deactivate it on the previous computer (About › Deactivate License), or from the website if that computer is gone. Then click Activate again.

The "Downloading required files" step stopped or failed

Check the internet connection and click Retry. You can also click Resume Later and open Q-Booth again when you are back online — the download continues.

Setup or the first download runs out of disk space

Free up space or choose another drive. Plan about 25 GB for Pro and about 5 GB for other editions, plus space for your results.

Q-Booth asks me to Sign In every time

This happens after Logout Session or when the session has expired. Enter your License ID and click Sign In while online.

More fixes are in Troubleshooting.
